1
00:00:17,600 --> 00:00:20,600
oh

2
00:00:49,439 --> 00:01:04,894
thanks

3
00:01:04,929 --> 00:01:20,349
uh

4
00:01:36,159 --> 00:01:39,879
look at this one he's so cute isn't he

5
00:01:39,914 --> 00:01:41,805
yeah he's funny but he's very small

6
00:01:41,840 --> 00:01:45,519
watch the kid with the freckles is gonna

7
00:01:45,554 --> 00:01:48,296
pick the husky puppy no way i see the

8
00:01:48,331 --> 00:01:51,039
golden retriever maybe he'll adopt both

9
00:01:51,040 --> 00:01:55,759
oh hey lassie enjoying the show are you

10
00:01:55,759 --> 00:01:59,238
when it comes to sheer entertainment

11
00:01:59,273 --> 00:02:02,675
value nothing beats the adoption there a

12
00:02:02,710 --> 00:02:06,078
bunch of adorable little puppies all

13
00:02:06,078 --> 00:02:06,113
looking for homes

14
00:02:15,120 --> 00:02:19,480
this is better than a movie well in that

15
00:02:19,515 --> 00:02:23,840
case enjoy the show just try to stay out

16
00:02:23,839 --> 00:02:23,875
of sight and out of trouble

17
00:02:24,479 --> 00:02:28,599
guys maybe we shouldn't just be watching

18
00:02:28,634 --> 00:02:31,557
maybe we should actually pitch in and

19
00:02:31,592 --> 00:02:34,275
help you know like classy does but how

20
00:02:34,310 --> 00:02:36,634
they already have plenty of people

21
00:02:36,669 --> 00:02:38,934
inside the fair well then maybe all we

22
00:02:38,969 --> 00:02:41,964
have to do is keep them there all right

23
00:02:41,999 --> 00:02:44,959
come on guys nobody leaves this fair

24
00:02:44,958 --> 00:02:44,994
until they've adopted a puppy

25
00:02:46,159 --> 00:02:48,378
you know

26
00:02:48,413 --> 00:02:50,598
this way

27
00:02:58,400 --> 00:03:03,840
what's your name this is olive say hi

28
00:03:03,840 --> 00:03:07,039

29
00:03:07,039 --> 00:03:09,965

30
00:03:10,000 --> 00:03:13,640
hey the kids got taste lassie is

31
00:03:13,675 --> 00:03:17,280
definitely a very special dog

32
00:03:17,439 --> 00:03:20,158
come on ollie i think lassie wants to

33
00:03:20,193 --> 00:03:22,296
help you pick out one of your own i

34
00:03:22,331 --> 00:03:24,244
can't believe he's talking about

35
00:03:24,279 --> 00:03:26,979
this you just slipped out they're

36
00:03:27,014 --> 00:03:29,680
heading to their car without a puppy

37
00:03:29,715 --> 00:03:40,849
quick we have to stop them

38
00:03:47,039 --> 00:03:50,039
wow

39
00:04:04,318 --> 00:04:09,299
hi little guy are you all right he is

40
00:04:09,334 --> 00:04:11,807
now let's take him inside my mom can

41
00:04:11,842 --> 00:04:14,280
look him over and make sure he's okay

42
00:04:16,079 --> 00:04:17,323
put the little guy over on that

43
00:04:17,358 --> 00:04:22,198
examination table and let's get a good

44
00:04:22,199 --> 00:04:22,233
look at him

45
00:04:28,879 --> 00:04:32,159
look how cute he is dad i think i'll

46
00:04:32,194 --> 00:04:35,439
call him buddy you want to keep him up

47
00:04:35,439 --> 00:04:37,085
we'll see honey

48
00:04:37,120 --> 00:04:40,400
look buddy here is adorable and i

49
00:04:40,435 --> 00:04:42,937
clearly appreciate what he did back

50
00:04:42,972 --> 00:04:45,645
there it's just i was really hoping to

51
00:04:45,680 --> 00:04:48,240
get a dog that could help me look after

52
00:04:48,275 --> 00:04:50,376
olive maybe protect her i mean i know

53
00:04:50,411 --> 00:04:53,265
he's just a little pup but well it's

54
00:04:53,300 --> 00:04:56,120
hard to imagine buddy growing up to be

55
00:04:56,120 --> 00:04:56,155
anything like lassie

56
00:04:56,399 --> 00:04:59,718
i know what you mean but when we first

57
00:04:59,753 --> 00:05:02,476
got her it was hard to imagine lassie

58
00:05:02,511 --> 00:05:05,175
growing up to be anything like classy

59
00:05:05,210 --> 00:05:08,525
believe it or not she was every bit as

60
00:05:08,560 --> 00:05:10,959
tiny and scared as buddy here wasn't she

61
00:05:10,994 --> 00:05:12,936
zoey no way lassie was worse it's true i

62
00:05:12,971 --> 00:05:14,879
remember because it was the summer when

63
00:05:14,879 --> 00:05:20,240
mountain did you find lassie at a puppy

64
00:05:20,240 --> 00:05:24,400
zoe found lassie all right but it wasn't

65
00:05:24,435 --> 00:05:28,560
at any fair no it definitely wasn't i'll

66
00:05:28,560 --> 00:05:31,885
wildfires were raging through the valley

67
00:05:31,920 --> 00:05:35,210
it was like the whole world was burning

68
00:05:35,245 --> 00:05:36,924
up around us

69
00:05:36,959 --> 00:05:39,918
the series of fires continue to burn out

70
00:05:39,918 --> 00:05:43,398
evacuation orders are now issued for

71
00:05:43,433 --> 00:05:45,756
hanson windsor and parts of essex county

72
00:05:45,791 --> 00:05:48,695
just reaching the roadblock now without

73
00:05:48,730 --> 00:05:51,765
the word we're going to need all the

74
00:05:51,600 --> 00:05:55,600
zoe stay in the car oh but dad you just

75
00:05:55,635 --> 00:05:58,617
said you needed all the volunteers you

76
00:05:58,652 --> 00:06:01,446
can get look i'm a volunteer i don't

77
00:06:01,481 --> 00:06:04,540
have the time to argue with you zoe just

78
00:06:04,575 --> 00:06:08,047
promise me you'll stay in the car okay

79
00:06:08,082 --> 00:06:11,519
come on promise me zoe say the words

80
00:06:11,520 --> 00:06:11,554
fine i promise

81
00:06:13,519 --> 00:06:14,364
hi

82
00:06:14,399 --> 00:06:15,883

83
00:06:15,918 --> 00:06:19,198
hamilton city we're trying to reach our

84
00:06:19,233 --> 00:06:23,075
new house that's in the safe zone ma'am

85
00:06:23,110 --> 00:06:25,014
but you're gonna have to detour back

86
00:06:25,049 --> 00:06:26,918
along this access road right here

87
00:06:37,360 --> 00:06:40,659
as you can see the fire spread all the

88
00:06:40,694 --> 00:06:43,959
way back there northwest about 500

89
00:06:43,959 --> 00:06:43,994
meters

90
00:06:55,680 --> 00:06:58,680
huh

91
00:07:12,560 --> 00:07:14,205
hello

92
00:07:14,240 --> 00:07:17,840

93
00:07:48,000 --> 00:07:53,240

95
00:08:03,715 --> 00:08:05,297

96
00:08:04,639 --> 00:08:09,439

97
00:08:09,474 --> 00:08:10,800

98
00:08:10,800 --> 00:08:16,930
let's get you out of there

99
00:08:22,720 --> 00:08:27,080
oh you're a mess

100
00:08:28,800 --> 00:08:34,308
oh well that's an improvement

101
00:08:34,958 --> 00:08:39,879
don't little guy wait please

102
00:08:41,599 --> 00:08:45,879
stop stop please

103
00:08:59,519 --> 00:09:01,724

104
00:09:01,759 --> 00:09:07,639

105
00:09:07,640 --> 00:09:07,674

no it's okay that's my dad come on

107
00:09:18,454 --> 00:09:22,440
little guy you better come with me

108
00:09:29,278 --> 00:09:30,923
zoe

109
00:09:30,958 --> 00:09:34,839
it's okay dad i'm here zoe zoey what did

110
00:09:34,874 --> 00:09:38,720
i tell you i said to stay in the truck i

111
00:09:38,720 --> 00:09:42,480
irresponsible things what were you

112
00:09:42,480 --> 00:09:48,839
dad i'm really sorry but i had to

113
00:09:48,874 --> 00:09:50,559
look sorry i don't uh

114
00:09:50,559 --> 00:09:54,879
i just had to dad i'm sorry

115
00:09:56,879 --> 00:10:14,720
come on let's get you home both of you

116
00:10:14,755 --> 00:10:17,004
well mom what's the story

117
00:10:17,039 --> 00:10:20,679
let's hear it sarah how is he well

118
00:10:20,714 --> 00:10:23,917
despite everything this little puppy's

119
00:10:23,952 --> 00:10:27,120
been through i'd say that she is in

120
00:10:27,120 --> 00:10:27,155
perfect health

121
00:10:28,240 --> 00:10:32,480
so you're a girl now all you need is a

122
00:10:32,515 --> 00:10:36,720
name right girl how about missy no

123
00:10:36,755 --> 00:10:38,297
molly

124
00:10:38,332 --> 00:10:39,839
beatrix

125
00:10:39,874 --> 00:10:41,177
gg

126
00:10:40,639 --> 00:10:44,439
i'll just call her girl until i can

127
00:10:44,474 --> 00:10:47,477
think of a name plus we need to get

128
00:10:47,512 --> 00:10:50,480
puppy food chew toys not tonight zoey

129
00:10:50,515 --> 00:10:53,217
you need to get some sleep

130
00:10:53,252 --> 00:10:55,920
but we can keep her right mom

131
00:10:55,919 --> 00:11:00,958
zoey listen that puppy is physically in

132
00:11:00,993 --> 00:11:03,456
perfect health but emotionally she

133
00:11:03,491 --> 00:11:05,919
suffered some pretty serious trauma

134
00:11:05,919 --> 00:11:09,359
you see how terrified and timid she is

135
00:11:09,394 --> 00:11:11,936
the world is just one big scary place to

136
00:11:11,971 --> 00:11:14,479
her right now it might be more than she

137
00:11:14,480 --> 00:11:18,959
and she might need someone to help her

138
00:11:18,958 --> 00:11:22,639
someone who's more experienced more

139
00:11:22,639 --> 00:11:26,919
i can do it you'll see i can help her i

140
00:11:26,954 --> 00:11:31,199
know i can please you have to let me try

141
00:11:31,839 --> 00:11:34,479
if it turns out to be more than you can

142
00:11:34,514 --> 00:11:37,120
handle we'll have to find her another

143
00:11:37,155 --> 00:11:39,377
home with people who know how to

144
00:11:39,412 --> 00:11:40,905
properly train and take care of dogs

145
00:11:40,940 --> 00:11:42,399
like her but she can stay here with us

146
00:11:42,434 --> 00:11:43,916
for now

147
00:11:43,951 --> 00:11:45,399
temporarily

148
00:11:46,480 --> 00:11:53,289
thanks dad thanks mom i can help her i

149
00:11:53,324 --> 00:11:58,029
just know it

150
00:12:01,919 --> 00:12:04,919
uh

151
00:12:26,720 --> 00:12:29,720
oh

152
00:12:54,720 --> 00:12:58,560
come on let's go for a walk

153
00:13:01,360 --> 00:13:06,519
mom i'm taking the puppy for a walk

154
00:13:07,278 --> 00:13:10,958
what am i going to name you

155
00:13:10,958 --> 00:13:12,844
now that's kinda weird

156
00:13:12,879 --> 00:13:17,809
tasha no you don't look like natasha

157
00:13:17,844 --> 00:13:28,548
ginger

158
00:13:33,440 --> 00:13:35,644
that was close

159
00:13:35,679 --> 00:13:41,919
thanks my name's zoe by the way no

160
00:13:41,919 --> 00:13:41,954
problem i'm harvey

161
00:13:43,198 --> 00:13:46,038
wait you better not touch me i think i

162
00:13:46,073 --> 00:13:48,879
just faceplanted into a patch of poison

163
00:13:48,879 --> 00:13:52,359
don't panic i'll look up the cure uh

164
00:13:52,394 --> 00:13:55,839
okay but i don't think the cure is going

165
00:13:55,839 --> 00:14:00,239
huh what do you mean why is it too late

166
00:14:00,274 --> 00:14:04,639
no it's just none of this is poison ivy

167
00:14:05,198 --> 00:14:08,445
oh right does that make sense

168
00:14:08,480 --> 00:14:15,360
sorry zoe i'm kind of new around here

169
00:14:15,359 --> 00:14:15,395
yeah harvey i can kind of tell

170
00:14:15,440 --> 00:14:19,360
so that was you i saw yesterday in the

171
00:14:19,360 --> 00:14:23,199
yep and that was you i saw sneaking out

172
00:14:23,198 --> 00:14:27,119
yeah well that's kind of a long story my

173
00:14:27,154 --> 00:14:30,137
dad's the park ranger is that why you

174
00:14:30,172 --> 00:14:33,125
know so much about poison ivy and stuff

175
00:14:33,160 --> 00:14:36,078
i tried to research all indigenous plant

176
00:14:36,113 --> 00:14:37,759
and wildlife before we moved here

177
00:14:37,759 --> 00:14:41,559
no i learned all about poison ivy after

178
00:14:41,594 --> 00:14:44,596
i rolled around in some back in first

179
00:14:44,631 --> 00:14:46,954
grade you can't find out everything from

180
00:14:46,989 --> 00:14:49,278
books well sure you can that's what's so

181
00:14:49,313 --> 00:14:50,560
great about them they can teach you

182
00:14:50,559 --> 00:14:55,199
except maybe how to recognize poison ivy

183
00:14:55,234 --> 00:14:59,839
fine but maybe anything else you want to

184
00:14:59,839 --> 00:14:59,874
know anything

185
00:15:02,480 --> 00:15:06,400
okay my puppy here has some serious fear

186
00:15:06,435 --> 00:15:09,816
issues she's booked by everything and i

187
00:15:09,851 --> 00:15:12,405
need to help her get over it are books

188
00:15:12,440 --> 00:15:14,959
really going to solve that come on let's

189
00:15:14,958 --> 00:15:20,359
okay girl it's cool my mom works here

190
00:15:27,600 --> 00:15:31,600
i've crossed reference books on animal

191
00:15:31,600 --> 00:15:35,199
psychology the prevailing theory seems

192
00:15:35,234 --> 00:15:37,977
to be that the only way dogs or people

193
00:15:38,012 --> 00:15:40,765
can truly overcome past trauma is by

194
00:15:40,800 --> 00:15:43,319
directly confronting the source of it

195
00:15:43,354 --> 00:15:45,477
again face to face but how do they get

196
00:15:45,512 --> 00:15:47,996
the courage to even do that i guess

197
00:15:48,031 --> 00:15:50,480
that's the catch they only get the

198
00:15:50,480 --> 00:15:55,600
well that doesn't seem fair

199
00:15:55,635 --> 00:15:59,278
don't move girl stay

200
00:16:05,198 --> 00:16:09,799
okay girl it's just a horn

201
00:16:12,000 --> 00:16:12,764
oh

202
00:16:12,799 --> 00:16:19,599
see that's not so bad is it look i think

203
00:16:19,600 --> 00:16:23,119
according to this we need to confront

204
00:16:23,154 --> 00:16:26,416
the real root of what's causing these

205
00:16:26,451 --> 00:16:29,425
fears the thing that started it all

206
00:16:29,460 --> 00:16:31,529
do we even know what that is yeah we do

207
00:16:31,564 --> 00:16:33,599
and more importantly we know where it is

208
00:16:33,600 --> 00:16:36,479
see the winds have died down today we

209
00:16:36,514 --> 00:16:39,359
still have hotshot crews in zones four

210
00:16:39,360 --> 00:16:43,680
but it looks like they've got the fire

211
00:16:43,679 --> 00:16:47,359
you mind if i take a copy i want to show

212
00:16:47,394 --> 00:16:50,346
harvey around try to train the puppy a

213
00:16:50,381 --> 00:16:53,299
little i want to make sure we stay clear

214
00:16:53,334 --> 00:16:54,799
from any fire zones

215
00:16:54,834 --> 00:16:57,376
hmm

216
00:16:57,411 --> 00:16:57,484
okay

217
00:16:57,519 --> 00:17:02,320
be careful out there do you know me dad

218
00:17:02,320 --> 00:17:06,559
come on let's do this wait let's do what

219
00:17:06,594 --> 00:17:10,256
it's simple all we need to do is take

220
00:17:10,291 --> 00:17:10,763
her out near one of the fire zones

221
00:17:10,798 --> 00:17:16,240
excuse me he said it yourself we have to

222
00:17:16,275 --> 00:17:18,176
get down to the root of the problem

223
00:17:18,211 --> 00:17:20,078
whoa whoa that's not exactly what i had

224
00:17:20,078 --> 00:17:22,918
look the wind is calm and the hot spots

225
00:17:22,953 --> 00:17:25,759
are all listed as contained that doesn't

226
00:17:25,794 --> 00:17:26,720
mean it's 100

227
00:17:26,720 --> 00:17:30,558
nothing is 100

228
00:17:30,593 --> 00:17:32,416
safe

229
00:17:31,359 --> 00:17:36,399
i'd say that this is you know

230
00:17:36,434 --> 00:17:37,644
safe-ish

231
00:17:37,679 --> 00:17:41,119
oh look my parents aren't going to let

232
00:17:41,154 --> 00:17:44,937
me keep her unless i can help her get

233
00:17:44,972 --> 00:17:48,720
over this i have to try if you want to

234
00:17:48,720 --> 00:17:48,755
stay here i totally understand

235
00:17:49,599 --> 00:17:53,719
fine i'll do it for her and for you too

236
00:17:53,754 --> 00:17:57,839
i mean i can't let you go out there all

237
00:17:57,839 --> 00:18:02,399
great then it's settled let's get a move

238
00:18:02,400 --> 00:18:06,279
bathsheba you can't call her bathsheba

239
00:18:06,314 --> 00:18:08,957
that's a terrible name for a dog who

240
00:18:08,992 --> 00:18:11,536
what's wrong with the chiva everything

241
00:18:11,571 --> 00:18:13,985
you give her a name like that you're

242
00:18:14,020 --> 00:18:16,289
going to traumatize her even more fine

243
00:18:16,324 --> 00:18:18,082
can you come up with a better name

244
00:18:18,117 --> 00:18:20,337
anything would be better the real

245
00:18:20,372 --> 00:18:22,558
challenge would be coming out with

246
00:18:22,558 --> 00:18:22,593
something worse

247
00:18:24,240 --> 00:18:26,125
whoa what was that

248
00:18:26,160 --> 00:18:30,558
mountain falcons they usually don't fly

249
00:18:30,593 --> 00:18:31,884
so low

250
00:18:31,919 --> 00:18:35,279
zoe what would happen if the wind

251
00:18:35,314 --> 00:18:36,523
suddenly changed what do you mean

252
00:18:36,558 --> 00:18:40,798
birds sometimes fly low to avoid rapidly

253
00:18:40,833 --> 00:18:44,136
dropping pressure at higher altitudes

254
00:18:44,171 --> 00:18:47,440
i hate to break it to you professor but

255
00:18:47,475 --> 00:18:48,879
i don't feel any change at all

256
00:18:48,880 --> 00:18:51,440
but the dropping pressure combined with

257
00:18:51,475 --> 00:18:54,000
the heat generated by the fires could

258
00:18:54,035 --> 00:18:55,937
create sudden and unpredictable

259
00:18:55,972 --> 00:18:57,839
accelerating downdraft currents

260
00:18:58,798 --> 00:19:02,238
you know something harvey you read way

261
00:19:02,273 --> 00:19:05,679
too much seriously we need to get you

262
00:19:05,679 --> 00:19:08,999
just watch watch the very tops of the

263
00:19:09,034 --> 00:19:11,796
smoke columns if i'm right the shift is

264
00:19:11,831 --> 00:19:14,355
going to start at higher altitudes and

265
00:19:14,390 --> 00:19:16,879
quickly work its way down to the ground

266
00:19:16,879 --> 00:19:16,914
look

267
00:19:21,839 --> 00:19:25,119
but there are fire teams down there if

268
00:19:25,154 --> 00:19:27,257
those hot spots suddenly flare up they

269
00:19:27,292 --> 00:19:29,360
could get cut off and trapped in the

270
00:19:29,359 --> 00:19:33,279
we need to head back to town so we can

271
00:19:33,279 --> 00:19:36,839
it'll be too late by then our only

272
00:19:36,874 --> 00:19:39,876
chance of warning them is if we keep

273
00:19:39,911 --> 00:19:42,435
going keep going you mean like towards

274
00:19:42,470 --> 00:19:44,915
the fire there's a fire tower just over

275
00:19:44,950 --> 00:19:47,360
the next peak we can radio them from

276
00:19:47,359 --> 00:19:52,199
but shouldn't we be letting someone else

277
00:19:52,200 --> 00:19:52,234
do this

278
00:20:02,880 --> 00:20:07,229
it's okay i'm sorry girl i know you're

279
00:20:07,264 --> 00:20:11,579
not ready for this but you just have to

280
00:20:11,614 --> 00:20:18,338
trust me come on

281
00:20:22,159 --> 00:20:26,119
this is fire tower 13 hot shot leader

282
00:20:26,154 --> 00:20:29,197
repeat fire tower 13 to hot shot leader

283
00:20:29,232 --> 00:20:31,575
expect sudden wind changes and gusts

284
00:20:31,610 --> 00:20:33,964
within the next 20 minutes advise all

285
00:20:33,999 --> 00:20:36,119
teams to pull out immediately who is

286
00:20:36,154 --> 00:20:37,996
this how old are you this is some kind

287
00:20:38,031 --> 00:20:40,055
of joke look if you don't believe me

288
00:20:40,090 --> 00:20:42,079
just check the top of the smoke column

289
00:20:42,114 --> 00:20:44,480
yourself do it now

290
00:20:44,480 --> 00:20:44,515
please

291
00:20:45,119 --> 00:20:48,519
uh roger

292
00:20:48,880 --> 00:20:52,479
roger that all teams evacuate the hot

293
00:20:52,514 --> 00:20:56,079
zones immediately repeat everyone pull

294
00:20:56,079 --> 00:20:56,114
out now

295
00:20:56,240 --> 00:20:57,084
uh

296
00:20:57,119 --> 00:20:59,084
over bye

297
00:20:59,119 --> 00:21:03,558
you heard the man let's get out of here

298
00:21:35,038 --> 00:21:38,558
get back to the fire tower try to radio

299
00:21:38,558 --> 00:21:43,319
zoey wait snowy

300
00:22:03,359 --> 00:22:09,229
zoey

301
00:22:15,359 --> 00:22:18,989
hello this is harvey smith speaking we

302
00:22:19,024 --> 00:22:22,620
have an emergency here do you copy hello

303
00:22:22,655 --> 00:22:25,799
do you receive me mayday

304
00:22:32,798 --> 00:22:34,879
you
